Christmas in Vancouver

With the long nights drawing in and the colder weather keeping us tucked up at home, its needless to say we are heading for winter. But while you may be missing that warmer weather, winter comes with its own joys and festivities with sledging, big knit jumpers and of course Christmas. Christmas is one of the most magical times of year, so why not do something a little different this year and visit a place that knows exactly how to do Christmas and all the exciting jubilation's that come with it. Vancouver is a bustling city right on the west coast of Canada in British Columbia. Here are a few great things to do there as a tourist.

Stanley Park

This 400 hectare park, teeming with natural forests, quiet beaches and tranquil walking trials, this park is in its prime during the festive season. With the trees decorated from root to branch in colorful Christmas lights, the park is illuminated with the spirit of Christmas and a fantastic place to bring the kids. From Santa’s grotto to the cozy cabins glowing in the sparkle of Christmas lights you wouldn’t want to spend Christmas anywhere else.

Grouse Mountain

For a place that will make you feel as though you are living a Christmas movie, Grouse Mountain is a winter wonderland like no other. With ski slopes and ice skating rinks, this mountain peak will reignite the childhood excitement that made Christmas such a special time of year. The Christmas festivities include sleigh rides, seasonal movies with their Theater in The Sky and gingerbread house displays. They run from November right through to January so you have plenty of time to book a week off at work and hop on over to where Christmas comes alive.

Van Dusen Botanical Gardens

These enchanting gardens become something of a festive spectacle during the winter months with their annual light show. With something different every year, this show is displayed through the thousands of Christmas lights that decorate this botanical garden and really has the wow factor in terms of a visual experience. Just taking a walk through these fantastical light features illuminating the gardens will fill you with a magical feeling that Christmas exudes, and have you taken aback by the beauty of this well kept attraction.
